A case for an aftermarket audio upgrade in a car
Aftermarket car audio upgrades are not new. However, equipment and installation skills have changed drastically since the early 2000s. At this time, the industry was much bigger. However, the product was much poorer. The market was dominated by a "stack ‘em high, sell 'em cheap” mentality, which at this time suited the focus of the market: 17 - 28-year-old male car drivers with a love of big bass.
Driving Sounds Magazine is the brainchild of FOUR UK, which distributes the brands Hertz, Audison, and Skinz in the UK. Largely through their efforts, the UK market has changed drastically and now attracts an older audience with an interest in a better quality result.
The magazine addresses a shortage of coverage in any media. Unlike other fields, car audio has to be installed by a specialist, and it can often be hard for potential consumers to find out information or even to find a specialist installer.
